Pharmacists in Retail Pharmacy

As a CVS pharmacist, you’ll play an important role in your community, representing a company that truly cares about the health and well being of its patients. Our goal is to set the standard for the delivery of pharmaceutical care, which we define as being the best at quality, service, and patient relationships. It is a responsibility that we all share, and a challenge that we enjoy. As a team, CVS pharmacists are dedicated to knowing what our patients value most, and delivering it — courteously and efficiently.

We want people to know how much we care about them, and we seek individuals who share this vision to join our team. At CVS/pharmacy, we appreciate the personal investments — the time, the caring, and the effort — you have made to pursue a meaningful career that touches so many lives. We want you to practice your profession in the way you envisioned. We give you the tools and support you need to do just that. That’s why CVS embraces the kind of diversity that’s reflected in the way our pharmacists represent the communities they serve.

This is an entry-level role. The primary focus for a PSA is on customer service. Responsibilities within the position include: Ringing out prescriptions, answering telephones, and Pharmacist referrals. The role of the PSA is important because he/she is often the first person with whom the customer comes into contact. The impression that the PSA gives the customer may determine the outcome of that customer's experience at CVS/pharmacy.

This is a second level position that builds upon the skills and responsibilities of the PSA. The role of the Technician is focused on customer service and prescription order processing, as well as problem resolution and inventory management. The role of the Technician is important because he/she helps to ensure that the right customer receives the right prescription, every time. CVS/pharmacy techs have stepped up to the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board challenge with pass rates far above the national average.

The role of the Pharmacy Lead Technician includes more focus on mentoring and guiding support staff members in team development.
